Let The Good Times Roll

Well, if you're going to do a post on masks, you might as well post a print of a really fantastic monkey mask, I always say. 

Depending on who you are, tomorrow is either Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras.  Basically, they're all pretty much the same thing--it's like a combination party/cram session before Lent kicks off and you're expected to give up stuff until Easter--but it's safe to say that Mardi Gras is by far the most fun incarnation of the three.  Sure, Shrove Tuesday has pancakes, but you can have those anytime; Mardi Gras has parades, masks and cheap plastic bead necklaces.  That's not something you'll ever find on the menu at IHOP.

So in honor of the motto laissez les bons temps rouler, I'm posting masks today.  Because I think I can get away with a post about masks a lot easier than I could with a post about cheap plastic bead necklaces.  Just sayin'.

First up, we've got this classic masquerade mask, complete with shiny stuff and bright, bold colors.

But hey--why stick with the classics when you can go with something a little off the beaten path, like this paper mask?  Not only is it sparkly, but I'm willing to bet you could recycle it, if you wanted to.

For the record, I can't say I understand the purpose of a lace netting mask, seeing as they don't really, well, mask a person's features very well.  But they are kind of neat, in a peek-a-boo sort of way.

Of course, if you prefer your masks to be a little bit more on the peek-a-boo side of things, there's always masks like this cutwork Phantom-of-the-Opera-type mask.  It certainly makes a statement.

Then again, if you're like me, sometimes the best statement to be made is the one announcing your geekiness to the world.  Luckily, there are masks for that:

Granted, I have not played Angry Birds, but I'm thinking there's enough people out there who have that somebody will appreciate these masks based on the aforementioned game.  And maybe if I'm lucky, one of them will explain to me why there is a green pig in a game that sounds like it ought to be about highly agitated avians.
